Aren’t babies the BEST WAY to start people?

They are so precious, innocent and truly a gift from heaven!   
We truly want what is best for our children and want to keep them safe and healthy!

According to the nonprofit Environmental Working Group (EWG), “the EPA has determined that infants up to age 2 are, on average, 10 times more vulnerable to carcinogenic chemicals than adults, and from age 2 to 15 they are 3 times more vulnerable to carcinogens than adults. Before the age of 2 babies have accumulated 50% of their life-time cancer risk.”

YIKES!!!  Is anyone else sorta freaking out after reading this????

Many of these toxic chemicals may cause cancer, diabetes, learning disabilities, focus issues, ADD - ADHD, Autism and so much more!  Do a google search and you will be alarmed!

Our skin is our largest organ and whatever we put on our skin is getting INTO our bloodstream.  Babies are especially at risk as their bodies are so tiny. 
My kids are all teens and I WISH I would have know there was a safer way back then.  Now, I know better, so I can do better and share what I have learned with you each of you!  

There is a safer way!  There is a less expensive way!  There is an easier way!

Below are some DIY Ideas that you can do at home to safely care for your baby without any harmful ingredients!  I only recommend doTERRA essential oils as they are the most tested and most trusted essential oils on earth.   Many other essential oils have toxic fillers or they are synthetic and may be harmful to your health.

Safety first!   All essential oils MUST be diluted before applying to your baby’s skin.  
My favorite carrier oils are any pure oil such as fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil or jojoba oil.

Teething:  Use Roman Chamomile or Lavender. 
One drop essential oil with one Tablespoon carrier oil.   Use a small amount to gently massage on jawline.  

Healthy Tummy:  Digestive Blend , Wild Orange, Roman Chamomile or Lavender
Massage 1 drop diluted with 1 Tablespoon carrier oil onto baby’s tummy to calm digestive troubles.

Sleep:  Roman Chamomile or Lavender
Diffuse one drop into the air and/or add 1 drop Lavender diluted with 1 Tablespoon carrier oil to feet and chest.  Or add 4 drops lavender to 2 oz spray bottle and spritz on sheets before bed.

Peaceful Mood:   Lavender, Wild Orange or Peace (reassuring blend) 
Let baby breathe a drop of each from your hands to soothe crying.   Can also diffuse one drop during nap time.

Boosted Immunity:  OnGuard (protective blend) & Melaleuca Tea Tree Oil
Diluted one drop of each with 1 Tablespoon carrier oil.  Rub onto babies spine and bottoms of feet 2-3 times daily.  Diffuse 4-6 drops daily in the home to keep baby’s immune system boosted.

Happy Skin & Bum:  Roman Chamomile and Lavender
Combine a drop of each with 1 Tablespoon carrier oil and rub onto baby’s bum 2-3x a day.   Can also add these to a non-toxic lotion to soothe babies skin.

They say “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”  
I want to share with you many lessons that I learned from sweet, sweet Dana.



1. Treasure the TIME we have on this earth.   Just a few days before she passed, she told me that she just wanted more time!   With tears streaming down both of our faces, I wished this for her too with my whole entire heart.  The fact that she shared this with me, in these last tender moments made me stop and think… WHAT am I doing with MY time???  Is it filled with love, gratitude, peace, kindness and grace?   OR is it filled with fear, judgement, impatience, anger and resentment?   What a reflection… I choose love now more than ever. 


2.  Be Grateful for all of our blessings!   On Thursday, August 15th she told me that she took so much for granted!  Don’t we all?  I now stop more often to take deep breaths and BE present!  I am more grateful for sunshine, family, children, my husband, friends, trees, health, food, freedom and safety.   My intention is to be grateful for every day and have eyes of gratitude, eyes of light and love.


3.  Kindness Matters!   Dana was so kind!  She thought of others and would do anything for a friend.  She was filled with gratitude and love.  The last thing she said to me on August 16th was, “Have a safe trip.” and “I love you”   We were leaving for Reno that weekend to drop our oldest off to college.  She remembered!  She made ME feel special even though these were her last days… thinking of others was her strength and she made all feel loved and appreciated in her presence.  


4.  Make daily choices to stay healthy!   Dana is the 3rd person very close to me that passed from cancer.   First, my mom in 2012, then Jim Belk in 2013 and now Dana in 2019.  I have known many others that have passed from this horrible disease but these 3 were closest to my heart.   Since loosing my mom in 2012 and watching her go through treatments, surgeries, tests, prescriptions, numerous appointments and scans for 10 years, this all made me take a closer look at my own health.  Yes!  Some cancers are genetic but the more studies that are being done, they are finding that 80% - 95% can be prevented with our lifestyle choices.  
I believe that I  can do so much more  to stay well and the choices we all make on a daily basis are either moving us towards disease or away from it.  


5.  Give Love!   I asked Dana what she wanted me to do for her 3 precious daughters.  She told me “Every time you see them, LOVE them.”  Yes Dana,  I WILL love them when I see them and I will give LOVE to all that I meet.   You see, we NEVER know what anyone else is going through.  Who are WE to judge?  I feel we are here to love, to forgive, to lend a hand, to have patience and grace for others.   May we all give more smiles, hugs, compliments and pure presence.  May we treat others with the same love and concern that we yearn for.  

May we go in peace to love and serve the world.   Amen
